Sea Battles were very constructive and beneficial for the war against the Germans in WW2. One specific battle during WW2 was the Battle of Midway, which was a fight that occurred over land, air, and sea. This battle was very beneficial for the United States and was, "considered one of the most decisive battles of World War Two" (The Battle of Midway, 2015). The Battle of Midway was a very great win for the Allies, because they were able to turn the battle to their favor and win the war. The Battle of Leyte Gulf was "formerly known as the "Second Battle of the Philippine Sea", is generally considered to be the largest naval battle of World War II " (The Largest Sea Battle In History, 2012). The Battle of Leyte Gulf was very popular because it was considered the largest naval battle of WW2. The goal of this battle was to isolate Japan from all of the countries that they had occupied in Southeast Asia.

These Sea Battles were fought by a lot of different people who were in different vehicles and ships. Some battle ships were designed to withstand many shots, while others were created to be smaller and be less likely to be hit by torpedoes. One ship in particular, The Escort Carrier, contributed a lot to the war effort, because it allowed planes to refuel and to take a break after flying. The Escort Carrier is able to hold the aircraft on board and to refuel the planes so that they could make longer distances, and to drop bombs on the Axis Powers, or to deliver packages out to Allies. Another ship which was very advanced for that time was "The Destroyer" and they were advanced because, "Most destroyers were fitted with four or six main guns, smaller calibre canon or machineguns, torpedoes, mine sweeping equipment, depth charges and asdic (sonar)" (WW2Ships, nd.). The destroyer was loaded with many weapons which were able to shoot aircraft and other ships, they also had torpedoes to shoot under water and sonar to scan for other enemies in the area. Overall, the sea battles were fought by many ships that were very large and had a lot of firepower to destroy other battleships or aircraft.
